About NEECA

About NEECA:

The National Energy Efficiency & Conservation Authority (Neeca) is an attached Department of the Ministry of Water & Power and serves as a federal focal agency mandated for initiating, catalyzing and coordinating all Energy Conservation activities in different sectors of economy. NEECA has been charged with a wide range of responsibilities including:-

· Formulating energy conservation programmes in all the main energy consuming sectors.

· Planning and initiating energy conservation actions nation-wide.

· Outlining policy guidelines to support energy conservation initiatives.

· Developing a comprehensive data base on opportunities for energy conservation.

· Supporting training activities on energy conservation application.

· Undertaking field research and pilot demonstration activities on specific energy conservation options and technologies; and

· Monitoring the implementation of conservation programs by other public and/or private sector entities...

Industry Power and Gas Tips

• Devise energy conservation plans to avoid energy losses.

• Arrange for regular boiler/ furnace tune ups.

• Arrange for Steam System Surveys.

• Arrange for Electrical System Surveys.

• Switch to energy efficient lighting.

• Use high efficiency motors.

• Use variable speed drives.
Building Sector Tips

• Determine the orientation of the building on its site.

• Construct room sizes appropriate from energy stand point.

• Whitewash the rooms for better use of lights.

• Put a wall section of 4 inch brick + 4 inch air space + 4 inch brick + 1 inch gypsum plaster outside whereas the air space should be filled with the following insulation.

• Use exhaust fans in kitchen/bathrooms.
Transport Sector Tips

• Tune up your vehicles regularly after every 15,000 Kms.

• Opt for joint commuting instead of using individual vehicle.

• Use bicycle or walk for short trips.

• Travel off peak hours. Avoid traffic congestion.

• Accelerate slowly & smoothly.
Agriculture Tips

• Tune up your tractor and farm machinery regularly.

• Service your tube well/pumping station regularly.

• Do not use tube well in morning/evening peak electricity consumption hours.

• By using TOD meters installed on agricultural tube-wells, farmers may avail 75 paisas rebate per unit while operating tube wells between 10pm to 6am.

• Remember! Irrigation during day time results in vaporization of large quantities of water, which can be saved if crops are irrigated during night time.
Textile Sector Tips

• Devise energy conservation plans to avoid energy losses.

• Arrange for regular boiler/ furnace tune ups.

• Arrange for Steam System Surveys.

• Arrange for Electrical System Surveys.

• Switch to energy efficient lighting.
Domestic Consumer Tips

• Minimize the use of heaters.

• Use solar panel geysers.

• Repair gas leakages immediately.

• Use daylight to the maximum.

• Avoid shopping after sunset.

• Avoid ironing between 5pm to 10pm.

• Use high efficiency electric fans.
